LEVEL 1(45 MINUTE) SWIM

Description:
LEVEL 1 SKILLS: *Safe entry and exit from the water *Submerge mouth, nose and eyes *Blow bubbles *Floating with support on front and back *Exhale under water through mouth and nose *Open eyes under water to retrieve submerged objects *Change direction while walking or paddling *Roll over from front-to back with support *Explore swimming on front using arm and leg action with support *Lifejacket safety For more information contact Holly Provost 224-8700 ext 244

LEVEL 2 SWIM

Description:
Level 2 Skills: * Water entry through stepping or jumping from the pool's edge. * Water exit through the usa of a ladder or the side of the pool. * Fully submerge head. * Blow bubbles while bobbing (submerging in a rhythmic pattern). * Open eyes under water to retrieve objects independently. * Floating on front and back. * Perform front and back glides. * Change direction while paddling on front or back. * Roll over from front-to-back/ back-to-front while swimming. * Swim on front, back, and side using combined arm and leg action. * Deep water exploration with support. * Lifejacket swimming and safety.

Description:
Level 3 Skills: * Bob with head fully submerged * Submerge and retrieve object in chest-deep water * Float on front/back in deep water * Perform front and back glide using two different kicks * Perform rotary breathing in horizontal position * Perform front and back crawl * Perform elementary backstroke * Jump into deep water from pool's edge * Dive into deep water from kneeling or standing position * Tread water using arm and leg movements * Perform Butterfly kick and body motion * Lifejacket safety: HELP and huddle positions

BREASTSTROKE/BUTTERFLY COMBO

Description:
The Breaststroke/Butterfly Combination class is designed for those swimmers who have mastered both freestyle and backstroke and are building the endurance and stroke readiness needed for the Intermediate Competitive class. Here, the instructor will break down the fundamentals of both breaststroke and butterfly in order to teach swimmers how to combine the arm and leg work to achieve stroke mastery. Minimal work on freestyle and backstroke may be included in this class for warm-up purposes and as review for those swimmers planning to enroll in the Intermediate Competitive Swimming class. All Breastroke/Butterfly classes are 45-minutes in length. *Note: Please consult with your child's instructor before moving on to the next level.

INTERMEDIATE COMPETITIVE

Description:
The Intermediate Competitive class is a good placement for swimmers looking to build on their stroke mastery and endurance. In this class, swimmers will have fun working on an assortment of drills including streamline, relays,lap swimming, flip-turns, legal kicks, and more. Breaks for instruction are included here: however, this class is for those swimmers who are able to swim continous lengths of the pool as well as those swimmers who have comprehension of all four competitive strokes.
